Happy Birthday!

So Luke turned two this week and I can't believe how quickly time flies. He is so grown up and it makes me sad yet I really enjoy watching him learn and play He is capable of making me laugh everyday by something he says or does. We had a blast at his party and it was a little crazy at times but that was expected. He picked jungle animals for his party so I decided to follow in my sisters footsteps and attempt a monkey cake.

Luke was spoiled by all his cousins, Aunts, Uncles, Grandmas and Grandpas. He sure is loved by many!

I would have to say the biggest hit of the night was his remote control jeep. It hasn't left his side since it was opened. I guess Mom and Dad know best.

Best Buds

Luke and his cousin Benson are best buds. Erica and I were driving in the car the other day and when we looked back this is what we saw. Luke and Benson holding hands! It was so dang cute and they just continued to hold hands the rest of the drive. Then a couple of days later I was driving with both Luke and Benson in the back seat and all I could hear was Benson's giggle. So I knew I had to see what was going on. I looked back and there they were playing tug-o-war with Luke's "Whoobie" his little dog slash blanket. Luke had a foot in his mouth and Benson had the ear in his. I was laughing so hard just watching Luke's and Benson's head getting tossed back and forth as they pulled on the toy like little puppies. It is so fun to watch them grow and develop together I am so glad that Luke has a cousin so close in age and I just hope they will always live close together so they can stay best buds!

Firsts

This was a very exciting Saturday filled with many firsts. First of all Dan was able to change his work schedule and join us in the fun which was a first since school started. We started the day off by participating in our first mini triathlon and was tons of fun. It was a family event in ways because we all participated in the event in different ways. Dan was able to run and I got to enjoy doing the bike part. It was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to doing it again next year. After the race we went home and got ready to go to our first BYU game this year and the best part is we got to take Luke! It was the BYU vs. Wyoming game so my Dad was able to relax and enjoy himself. Luke had a blast and was extremely spoiled by everyone. Dad filled him full of treats, Grandpa spoiled him with pop and he was able to convince Grandma that he needed the most expensive football in the shop (which he now has to sleep with). He made it through all the way to the third quarter and then finally crashed in Dads arms I thought he did really well considering he hadn't had a nap all day. The saddest part is I think he enjoyed the marching band the most. I guess the best part of the day was just being together and watching him cheer with "bampa." Luke is a quick learner! The other day we were in the car and listening to the Utah vs. Oregon St. and we were about two minutes into the drive when Luke finally said "mama go Cougs" as his little arm went up in the air. In my defense it isn't just me that is doing all the teaching!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY

I really can't believe that it was four years ago that we were married it seems like yesterday! For our anniversary we went out to eat at a nice restaurant and Dan and I felt so out of place because we are used to going places that are sutiable for kids. It was a nice change to actually enjoy our meal and we sure had fun. The things we took for granted before children! After dinner we went up to Midway and stayed up there for the night because the next morning Dan ran the 10K Swiss Day's race. We stayed there for the morning and Dan went shopping with me at all the fun booths they have. I think it is the only time he is enjoyable to shop with and only because he has to be. It was nice to have a break and just relax but of course we both wanted to get back in time to watch saturday college football. My Cougars are sure looking good!!!!

It's All About Dada

I have decided that it would be fun to make a list of all the things Luke loves to do with his Dad. So here they are:

1. Any time Dad says "Beijing" no matter where Luke is in the house he yells back "jing."

2. They love to golf! Everytime Luke hits the ball he says "nice and easy" just like Dad.

3. Sleep!!! If I leave them alone with out fail everytime I come back the house is quiet and I will find my two boys out cold.

4. They love to play with any kind of ball. It is always a race to see who can throw them up or down the stairs the fastest.

5. Luke has to get ready with Dad, if Dad shaves Luke shaves, if Dad brushes his teeth Luke brushes his, it Dad puts on a tie Luke has to put on a tie, etc

6. They both love their bikes.

7. They fight over who is master of the t.v. remote. Now Luke has his own!

8. I pack snacks for both Luke and Dad! I don't think either one could make it through church wihtout them.

9. They love to eat.

10. Finally, it is a competition to see who can get more sympathy from mom when they get hurt. Luke usually wins!

I guess the only thing that is different between them is Luke loves the color BLUE and Dad loves the color RED.

WHEN

When did it happen? I am with you all day everyday and never saw it, but days later when I developed this picture there it was. I've been watching for it- expecting it really. Everyone said it happens quicker then you think but it still came as a surprise. There are those moments in every child's life when you see the future--that change from one stage in life to another not measured by calendar days. So when I looked at your little body trying so hard to make a basket I was struck by the little boy that was starting to emerge. Perhaps enough of the little baby remains to disguise it in person, but it is apparent to me in this picture that you are growing up. I knew it would happen and happen soon, I just didn't know WHEN!!

Exciting Bathroom News

One of Luke's favorite things to do is watch people go potty. He loves to ripe off a square of toilet paper and hand it to you, then flush the toilet, and yell "bye bye" as he slams the lid. So I thought it was worth a try to see if maybe he would go to. I bought him a little toilet at Wal-Mart and poof he now goes "poo poo" by him self. It is so nice and saving us tons of money on diapers, not to mention it is easy clean up. Lets just say my new favorite thing is when he comes running into the room yelling "poo poo mommy" I never thought words like that would sound so lovely!! I guess the bottom line is I absolutely love being a mom.
